Will my Moonfade presets and settings transfer to a new phone?
Plan a new Moonfade installation with manually recreated settings and a separate eligible Pro restoration check. Android backup and device transfer are disabled for the app.
Do not expect your Moonfade presets and settings to transfer to a new phone. Moonfade stores preferences locally, and Android backup and device transfer are disabled for the app. Prepare to configure the new installation yourself. If you purchased Pro, restoring an eligible Google Play purchase is a separate task from recreating those preferences.
Make a reference while the old setup is available
Before changing phones, note the choices you actually want on the new device. Focus on useful preferences rather than trying to reproduce every past test: regular timer durations, editable presets you rely on, theme preference, and fade choices.
The Moonfade product guide distinguishes built-in presets from Pro's editable presets and lists the other optional unlocks. That helps you recognize which settings are personal configuration and which features depend on an available Pro unlock.
Also identify the Google Play account that made a Pro purchase. Keep its order ID available if you need restoration support. A personal note of durations or preferences is a practical reference; it should not be described as an in-app export or synchronization function.
If the old phone is no longer available, begin with the documented default choices and configure a routine that suits the new setup. Do not assume the developer can recover local preference values from a Moonfade account, because there is no such customer-account profile.
Know why automatic transfer is not the plan
The privacy policy explicitly states that Android backup and device transfer are disabled and that local values do not transfer to a different installation. Timer settings, presets, themes, and fade choices are among the values stored on-device.
Treat that statement as the supported behavior when planning the move. Do not promise that a particular manufacturer transfer tool will copy Moonfade's settings, or infer cloud recovery from the fact that Google Play knows about a purchase.
The policy also explains that clearing data or uninstalling does not remove a purchase recorded by Google Play. An eligible purchase can be restored with the purchasing Google account. The old preferences and the purchase record therefore have different recovery paths.
Check an eligible Pro purchase on the new installation
Use Google Play with the account that made the purchase. Open Moonfade, open its Pro screen, and choose Restore purchase, following the official restoration instructions.
Check whether the documented Pro features are available afterward. Do not use missing edited presets as proof that the unlock failed: the values of those presets were part of the old local installation. Recreate them separately when the relevant customization is available.
If Pro remains unavailable, contact support with the Google Play order ID, Android version, phone model, and a brief account-and-restoration description. Exclude card details, bank information, passwords, and authentication codes.
Build the new timer routine in a deliberate order
First, start media in the player you plan to use on the new phone. Second, open Moonfade and set a short duration. Third, enable Stop audio & video and choose your post-countdown fade. Fourth, tap Start and complete Device Admin activation when prompted; the current version requires activation before the countdown can begin.
Observe the ending before selecting a long session. The fade follows the countdown and can last 0–60 seconds. Display lock, media-volume reduction, and playback pause are separate outcomes, so inspect the player state rather than relying only on a dark screen or quiet audio.
Even if you choose the same settings as before, the new device and player combination needs its own test. Support explains that responses vary by Android device and media app. A familiar duration is useful configuration, not a guarantee of identical playback behavior.
Do I need to recreate free built-in presets?
The product provides its built-in choices. Your personal customization is the part you should plan to configure again, particularly edited Pro presets and preferred appearance or fade choices.
Will Pro restoration recover the old theme selection?
Do not rely on it. Restore the eligible unlock and choose your preferred settings separately in the new installation.
Get Moonfade on Google Play on the new phone, then recreate one familiar timer setup and run a short player test before your first longer session.
