How do I review advertising privacy choices in Moonfade?

Open Moonfade Settings and look for a Privacy choices item where required and available. It lets you review or change applicable advertising choices, and it is separate from Android's advertising ID controls. No Moonfade account is required, but the free version's ad and consent services can still process data.

Moonfade timer arc fading into a crescent moon over a quiet night landscape

Moonfade does not require an account, but the free version may show advertising through Google Mobile Ads, and advertising and consent services can process data. Where required, Moonfade uses Google's consent-management technology to present privacy choices before requesting ads. If a Privacy choices item appears in Moonfade Settings, you can use it to review or change applicable advertising choices (Privacy Policy).

Review choices inside Moonfade

  1. Open Moonfade and go to Settings.
  2. Look for Privacy choices.
  3. If it appears, open it and review or change the applicable advertising choices.
  4. If it does not appear, there are no in-app consent choices to change through that item at that time; the Privacy Policy still explains what Google services may process.

The privacy policy states that the free version may show advertising supplied by Google Mobile Ads, which may process information such as IP address, device or app identifiers, app and ad interactions, and diagnostics for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention (Privacy Policy). A missing Privacy choices item is not a fault in the app, and whether the item is shown can depend on where you are and which choices apply.

Changing advertising choices does not change how the timer itself works. Your timer duration, presets, themes, and fade choices remain local settings, and no Moonfade account is needed to review or change consent choices.

Android advertising controls are separate

Android's advertising controls may let you reset or delete the advertising ID (Privacy Policy). That is a device-level action, not a Moonfade setting. Use whichever layer matches your goal: Moonfade's Privacy choices for consent choices the app presents, and Android's advertising ID controls when you want to reset or delete that identifier.

No account does not mean no ad data

No Moonfade account is required, and timer settings, presets, themes, and fade choices are stored locally on your device. That does not mean the free version processes no data: Google Mobile Ads and consent services can process ad-related data as described in the policy (Privacy Policy). If you want background on that distinction, see Does no Moonfade account mean no advertising data is processed?.

Advertising choices and optional usage measurement

Privacy choices concerns advertising consent. Moonfade 1.0.1’s Share anonymous usage results is a separate Settings control, off by default; it is also separate from website measurement. When enabled, it sends limited timer-start/end counts and coarse fade, audio-focus and display-lock request outcomes. Accepted requests do not prove a player paused or the physical display locked. The privacy policy explains the fields, retention and effect of turning it off. Changing advertising consent does not switch this separate usage setting.

What stays local

Timer and customization settings are not sent to a server operated by the publisher, according to the policy. The policy also describes a limited Google Play reviewer-code verification service that does not receive timer or settings data (Privacy Policy). To see what Moonfade keeps on the device, read Where does Moonfade store timer settings and personalization?.

If you want to limit ad-related processing

  • Review Privacy choices in Moonfade Settings when the item is available.
  • Use Android's advertising controls to reset or delete the advertising ID.
  • If you prefer no ads at all, Moonfade Pro is an optional one-time Google Play purchase that removes ads (Moonfade). Pro does not change how the timer itself works.

A useful next step is to open Moonfade Settings and check for Privacy choices once, so you know whether any choices apply on your device before your next timer session. Get Moonfade on Google Play if you need to install or update it first.
