What happens to Moonfade settings and Pro if I clear app data?
Clearing app data removes Moonfade’s local preferences. Prepare a reference for the settings you want, then check eligible Pro restoration through Google Play separately.
Clearing Moonfade app data removes its local timer and personalization settings, but it does not remove a purchase recorded by Google Play. Plan for two separate checks afterward: recreate the preferences you want, and restore an eligible Pro purchase with the Google Play account that made it if the unlock needs restoration.
Decide what you are trying to change
A data reset should not be treated as a general promise to fix playback. Moonfade's ending depends on the media app and Android device, so continuing playback can have a different explanation from a local-settings problem.
Before resetting for a playback concern, use the Moonfade support instructions: check that Stop audio & video is enabled and try a short timer with the player you use. Observe countdown completion, media-volume change, and actual pause separately.
If you still choose to clear local data, do it knowing that your preferences will need attention afterward. Do not expect a reset to preserve personalization while changing only the particular symptom that prompted it.
Prepare a simple reference before the reset
Write down the timer choices you want to recreate. That may include familiar durations, any editable Pro presets you use, a theme preference, and your fade choice. The product guide describes the built-in presets and optional customization, so distinguish those supplied choices from personal edits.
Also identify the Google Play account that made any Pro purchase. If you later need help restoring it, keep the Google Play order ID available. Do not collect or send card details, bank information, passwords, or authentication codes as part of that preparation.
Your notes are a personal reference, not a Moonfade backup or export feature. Android backup and device transfer are disabled for the app, so relying on those mechanisms to recreate its local preferences would conflict with the documented behavior.
Understand what removing local data means
The Moonfade privacy policy explains that timer settings, presets, themes, and fade choices are stored on the device. It says you can remove local app data through Android's app-storage controls or uninstalling, and that local values do not transfer to a different installation.
Use the Android controls appropriate to your device without assuming a single universal menu path. This article concerns clearing app data; do not silently substitute a different operation and assume it has the same effects.
The policy separately states that clearing data does not remove a purchase recorded by Google Play. That distinction is why a missing local preference and an unavailable Pro unlock should be investigated differently.
Check Pro separately after clearing data
If Pro is unavailable afterward, use Google Play with the account that made the purchase. Open Moonfade's Pro screen and choose Restore purchase. Follow the official support instructions rather than treating the disappearance of a custom preset as proof that the purchase record has been deleted.
Restoring an eligible unlock does not restore the removed preset values or theme choices. Configure those again from your reference. If Pro remains unavailable after the supported restoration flow, contact support with the order ID and a brief description, along with Android version and phone model.
Rebuild the timer and observe its ending
Start media in your usual player before setting the timer. Choose a duration, enable Stop audio & video, and select a fade from 0 to 60 seconds. The fade occurs after the countdown finishes.
Tap Start and complete Device Admin activation when prompted; the current version requires that activation before the countdown begins. Do not assume clearing data creates a way to skip the permission requirement.
Run a short test and check the actual player state afterward. If the result differs from what you expected, describe the current settings and observed sequence. That gives support more useful information than attributing everything to the reset.
Get Moonfade on Google Play and, after any data reset, rebuild one familiar timer setup and test it before returning to a longer session.
