How do I choose a Moonfade timer duration from 1 minute to 24 hours?
Choose a time-based listening session with Moonfade’s dial or presets, then account for the fade that follows the countdown.
Choose a Moonfade duration for the amount of listening time you want on Android before the ending begins. Use a quick preset when one of the built-in choices fits, or the dial for another duration between 1 minute and 24 hours. The fade follows that countdown, so consider it separately when planning the full ending.
Moonfade's duration and setup guide lists the range and the five quick choices: 15, 30, 45, 60, and 90 minutes. These are time-based controls for music, podcasts, audiobooks, or video already playing in your usual media app.
Start with a listening decision
Before choosing a number, decide what you want the timer to do for this session. You might want a short listening break, a longer stretch of background music, or a defined amount of audiobook time. The relevant choice is the duration of the session, rather than an assumption about how long you should sleep.
If you only want another 20 minutes of a podcast, choose a countdown for that amount of time. If you want a full 45-minute listening session, the matching preset is convenient. Neither choice is a request to detect the end of an episode or chapter; Moonfade is providing a duration.
Also decide whether you need an exact countdown or whether a nearby preset is acceptable. This avoids picking a quick value out of habit when it does not match the session you intended to time.
Use a preset for a matching duration
The five built-in presets are useful when your desired waiting period is already 15, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes. Selecting one avoids choosing the same value again with the dial. Read the selected duration before starting so you know which waiting period will run.
A preset is not a different kind of timer. It supplies a duration to the same countdown. You still need to check the ending settings and the actual media app response, just as you would for a custom value.
If you have Moonfade Pro and have edited a preset, check its current value rather than relying on the original built-in number. The homepage distinguishes the standard quick choices from Pro's editable presets.
Use the dial for another duration
The dial is the appropriate choice when the preset values are too short, too long, or simply different from your plan. Stay within the supported 1-minute-to-24-hour range and check the chosen value before you tap Start.
For example, choosing 20 minutes with the dial lets you keep your original listening plan instead of expanding it to a 30-minute preset. Similarly, a brief compatibility test can use a shorter countdown without waiting for the smallest built-in preset to finish.
A longer allowed duration is an available timer setting, not a recommendation for a longer session. Choose the value that serves your task and leaves you able to check the result when needed.
Keep the fade out of the countdown calculation
Moonfade can fade media volume for 0 to 60 seconds after the countdown completes. If you choose 20 minutes and a 30-second fade, that fade is a separate stage after minute 20. Do not expect the sound to begin fading 30 seconds before the countdown ends.
If you are planning a particular clock time to inspect playback, include the fade interval in your estimate. Check Stop audio & video in Settings for the playback-ending request. Volume reduction and an actual pause are different outcomes, so observe both during a short test.
The support guidance emphasizes that devices and media apps can respond differently. The correct duration alone does not ensure your chosen player pauses as expected.
For the full ending sequence, see countdown, fade and display-lock order. If you are starting for the first time, follow the first-timer setup and demo before testing your chosen duration.
Start, then adjust deliberately if plans change
Start playback in your media app first. In Moonfade, choose your duration, tap Start, and complete the required Device Admin activation when prompted before the countdown begins. Keep the timer notification available: its actions let you add time, subtract time, or stop the timer without reopening the app.
When changing an active timer, check the resulting countdown rather than assuming it still matches your original choice. Before a long session, test the complete ending with your usual player using a short duration.
Get Moonfade on Google Play, decide how much listening time you want, and choose either the matching preset or a dial value before checking the ending settings.
